The project will collect and share heritage for future use in education, research and cultural enjoyment. Along with the heritage benefits, people will have the opportunity to develop skills in media and community engagement, volunteer their time and learn more about the heritage of the deaf communities involvement of the Deaflympics. By creating these opportunities a wider range of people will have engaged with heritage and gained a greater knowledge of previous and future World Games for the Deaf participants and Deaflympians.
Who will benefit from your project?
The main groups of people to benefit from the project will be young deaf people as they will learn from the previous World Games for the Deaf participants and Deaflympians. There will also be an opportunity to develop knowledge and an interest in sport and team spirit. Current Deaflympians will be able to use the outcome to demonstrate the capabilities of deaf people, which will give confidence to other people that watch and engage with the project. We expect the information collected and recorded to be a resource for Deaf studies groups to enhance the limited available material in this particular area.
